Simple Cellulite Solutions for Busy Moms

If you’re a woman, you're probably pretty familiar with cellulite.
But have you ever stopped to figure out what it actually is? Cellulite is actually just another type of fat, but this one sits just below the skin’s surface. That’s what gives the skin it’s dimpled, uneven look and it’s why so many women around the world dread swimsuit season.

The worst part about cellulite is that many women feel doomed to carry it around with them for life. They believe rumors that once you have it, you have it for good—no matter how hard or how long you train. Or they end up getting costly, invasive liposuction that only provides a short-term solution to the problem.

On our road to discovering the perfect cellulite fighting tricks, we discovered a few shortcuts that are actually more like dead ends. Creams and rubs won’t cut it when it comes to getting rid of cellulite—no matter what miracles they claim on the label.

They may help some, but honestly, the only way to truly minimize the look of dimpled fat is by working out and burning it off...just like any other fat. And burning fat requires a high-intensity aerobic workout that specifically targets the trouble areas of the body where cellulite hangs out. No you can't spot reduce fat, but you can shape your muscles to minimize the dimpled appearance.

Here's our advice:

Make a change to your routine that will work. Follow this simple workout trick and be willing to make some healthier choices with your food and drinks (see my yummy Lean Margarita recipe below), and we promise, with time, swimsuit season will excite you.

Attacking Cellulite with 1-Legged Burpees, 3 Times a Day

Burpees are great at targeting the notorious spots where cellulite hangs out in the hips, butt, and thighs. And because they’re an intense exercise, your body’s metabolism will get an added boost.

A burpee takes balance and coordination, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll love its one-of-a-kind burn.

  1. Start off standing upright on one leg with your arms at your side and hop once.
  2. After the hop, drop down into a push up position (keeping one leg off the ground).
  3. Do a one legged pushup and then bounce back up into starting position.
  4. Do 5 burpees on each leg for 3 sets, 3 times a day.

The Burpee Burn

Because the burpee burn is specifically targeting the trouble areas, that area of your body actually heats up to the level where it can burn off the cellulite. Not only will you start losing the fat, you’ll have more energy to play with the kids, go to the grocery store, and focus on the daily work you need to get done. I love this exercise because it is quick and fits in perfect with busy mom's schedules.

And what’s really neat about this workout is the limited space it requires—if your only space at lunchtime is a small office or cubicle, you can do it! And rocking this workout 3 times a day is a great way to coordinate your burpees with your eating habits - just do them right before you eat.

Speaking of eating habits...

Start small with swapping out processed carbs for whole grains, or doubling up on your green veggies, or if you're going to celebrate your one-legged burpee successes do it with my Lean Margarita recipe!

The Lean Margarita

There are great recipes out there for low carb drinks, but there’s nothing better than a pitcher of
lean margaritas on a Friday evening. This recipe is so good, you’ll never go back to those old, sugary sour mix packets or bottles again!

When you entertain guests, you know you’ll be serving them a healthier alternative to a traditional margarita. This recipe cuts out the triple sec, which, like most liqueurs or cordials, is extremely high in sugar and low in alcohol. Instead of triple sec, use a pure orange extract. And instead of sugary sour mixes, use pure lime juice and agave nectar.

This recipe actually tastes better than the traditional margaritas because it uses fresh ingredients and not pre-mixed stuff that’s been sitting on a shelf in a grocery store for months or more. It's great as a non-alcoholic option as well, just omit the tequila.

The Lean Margarita

Ingredients:
2 cups tequila
1 cup orange extract
3/4 cup fresh lime juice
3/4 cup lime juice
3 cups ice
kosher salt
8 lime wedges

Directions:
1. Combine the tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, sweetened lime juice, and ice in a large pitcher; stir.
2. Pour the kosher salt onto a plate. Rub the rim of a glass with a lime wedge. Dip the rim of the glass into the salt; fill glass with margarita mixture; repeat for each serving. Serves. 8. For lower sodium, omit salt.

In just a few weeks, these two tweaks to your routine will reduce your cellulite and have you living
a more energetic and fulfilling life. This is a challenge that even the busiest mom can rise to.
